Millikin University once again displayed its generous spirit on Oct. 7 at the 15th Annual WSOY Community Food Drive. In addition to the food products that Millikin University donated, $1,212 was generously donated for the shopping trip to purchase more products so Millikin could reach its goal.
Thanks to Millikin students, the "Pound for the Purpose" campaign, and special efforts by fraternities, sororities and student-athletes, Millikin surpassed its 6,000 pound goal by contributing 6,825 pounds.
Millikin President Dr. Patrick White, along with Millikin students and staff, delivered their donated gifts to the WSOY Community Food Drive drop-off point on the morning of Oct. 7.
In a message to the Millikin community, Dr. White said, "At the heart of Performance Learning at Millikin is our putting into practice our Mission values on campus and off, in class and out. Your participation in the WSOY Community Food Drive is an outward sign of our practice of 'democratic citizenship in a global environment' and our enacting of a 'personal life of meaning and value.'"
Dr. White noted, "The committee and I wish to thank the entire Millikin community, which includes our friends at Aramark. Millikin University is a caring community of students and scholars living out our Millikin values. When we see people in need, Millikin responds."
