Students from Millikin University's School of Theatre and Dance recently staged a performance of the children's play "Super Sidekick: The Musical" on Oct. 22 and 23 in Albert Taylor Theatre on Millikin's campus.
The performance was sponsored by Golden K Kiwanis of Decatur with proceeds going to serve the children of the world, the mission of Golden K.
The 24th annual children's play, "Super Sidekick," comes from rising playwright Gregory Crafts and composer Michael Gordon Shapiro. When famous superhero Blackjack, the Bold, is kidnapped by an evil sorcerer, it's up to his assistant, Inky, to step up and save the day. Little does he know that he'll also have to contend with Ninja Koalas, dark caves, secret weapons and an abducted princess who's considerably braver than he is.
The performance was directed by Angela Miller, Millikin assistant professor of theatre and dance.
