In a recent online column from OnStage published on Dec. 20, Millikin University was recognized by the theatre news and review blog for being the Best Theatre College in Illinois for 2017.
According to OnStage, the blog used criteria consisting of tuition, facilities, academic rigorousness, performing opportunities, career support, location, among others, across all degrees both undergraduate and graduate, to pick the best theatre programs in each state.
The OnStage profile of Millikin states that performance opportunities are available to students beginning in their first semester. All Bachelor of Fine Arts performance majors are required to audition for Millikin's mainstage season and freshmen are eligible for casting. Additional performance opportunities may include: Pipe Dreams Studio Theatre, a student-run theatre company, The Annual Children's Show and The New Musicals Initiative.
OnStage previously ranked Millikin University as one of the best institutions in the country to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre in August 2016. The rankings were based off tuition, curriculum, faculty and career support.
In August 2015, OnStage named Millikin's School of Theatre and Dance as one of the "10 Most Underrated Theatre Colleges in the Midwest." Millikin placed 2nd on the list which covered the states of Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana.
