Millikin University's Collegiate DECA student organization will host a Valentine's Food Drive titled "Love your Community, Love your Neighbor" during the week of Feb. 13-16. All proceeds will go to the AMELCA Food Pantry: First Lutheran Church in Decatur, Ill.
Millikin's Collegiate DECA chapter will collect canned foods in Richards Treat University Center on Millikin's campus on Monday, Feb. 13, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.; Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.; and Thursday, Feb. 16, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Collection bins will be available throughout the week outside the University Information Center desk in Richards Treat University Center, and Millikin's Center for Entrepreneurship in ADM-Scovill Hall.
Students from Millikin's Collegiate DECA chapter will deliver the canned foods to AMELCA Food Pantry on Friday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m.
Millikin's Collegiate DECA is the student chapter of the professional organization Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) and the only Collegiate DECA chapter in Illinois, providing opportunities for competition, networking and leadership development.
Collegiate DECA is an international association of high school and college students studying marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality and marketing sales and services.
The organization involves more than 13,000 students from 200 campuses across the nation, including community colleges, technical colleges, four-year colleges and universities. Collegiate DECA is designed to enhance the student's college experience by providing recognition and leadership activities directly related to classroom study.
