Nancy CurtinFace-to-face communication has taken a back seat due to the rise of social media. In today's digital age, social media plays an important role in many people's lives, but the old fashion way of forming connections still relies on face-to-face socializing and communication.

In a recent interview with WAND-TV, Dr. Nancy Curtin, associate professor of communication and chair of the Communication Department at Millikin University, says that face-to-face communication will still be a fundamental component of good customer service.

"I'm hoping and have faith that people still appreciate that face-to-face eye contact and how to relate to each other," Dr. Curtin said.

Dr. Curtin has Millikin students go to networking events to learn the art of conversation. Her primary teaching areas include organizational communication, gender communication and interpersonal communication.
