Millikin Ariel Workshop

Millikin University's School of Theatre and Dance held an aerial workshop residency for students May 8-14. The residency featured guests Vivian Tam and Millikin alumna Brenna Bradbury '07, who combined their skill sets to demonstrate the collaborative process of aerial arts.

Brenna Bradbury is an aerialist, dancer, singer, choreographer, music director and pianist who currently lives in New York. Having graduated from Millikin University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre and a dance minor, she has toured the country in various musical theatre productions as both a performer ("Carousel Dinner Theatre," "The Little Theatre on the Square," "La Comedia," and "Hershey Park") and music director and/or choreographer ("Ariel Theatrical" and "La Comedia").

Bradbury currently teaches classes at Aerial Arts NYC, Body and Pole, The Muse and Om Factory. She has performed as an aerialist and dancer with ImaginAerial, Cirque Central, Smash Entertainment, Phoenix Entertainment, MIXT Dance, AERA, and at venues such as The Slipper Room, Galapagos Art Space, The House of Yes, The Santa Monica Pier, and at Hershey Park.

Bradbury recently won second place in the Silks Division at the International U.S. Aerial Championships.

"When teaching a class, we are getting the students prepared for the apparatus by using the apparatus," Bradbury said in a recent interview with WAND-TV. "We show them simple movements that they can learn which will eventually help."

The School of Theatre and Dance's performance workshop opportunities are presented to showcase alumni that work in niche areas of the theatre industry, which have strong ties to campus life.
