Millikin University and Lake Land College have announced a reverse transfer agreement that will benefit students who transfer from Lake Land to Millikin before earning their associate degree. The agreement takes effect starting the 2016-17 academic year.
The agreement allows credits completed at Millikin University to be transferred back to the student's Lake Land transcript to complete requirements for an associate degree. The agreement makes it easier for Lake Land students to begin study at Millikin sooner without forgoing the opportunity to earn a degree at Lake Land College.
"This reverse transfer agreement further extends a partnership to better serve Lake Land students who decide to further their education at Millikin," said Millikin University President Dr. Patrick White. "Lake Land College and Millikin University both benefit from this agreement because our students are able to gain and utilize the full credit for their learning at both institutions. We all get stronger when our students prosper."
Students enrolled at Millikin University who previously attended Lake Land College, or are currently enrolled at Lake Land and acquired a minimum of 32 credit hours, may be eligible for reverse transfer credit toward a Lake Land associate degree.
For Lake Land students admitted to and enrolled at Millikin with a minimum of 32 transfer credits, Millikin will notify those students who previously attended Lake Land but never completed their associate degree about the agreement.
"This agreement allows us to award credentials to students where credentials are due by making sure that they know they can transfer courses from Millikin to Lake Land for degree completion," said Lake Land College President Dr. Josh Bullock. "Having an associate degree can open employment options to them as they complete a bachelor's degree. Our regional economy grows when we work together to create new opportunities for the people in our communities."
Lake Land College's Admissions and Records office and Millikin University's Office of the Registrar will serve as the point of contact for administration of the agreement.
