School of Theatre and Dance announces 2017-2018 production season
Millikin University’s highly regarded School of Theatre and Dance is pleased to announce its 2017-2018 production season. The School of Theatre and Dance will once again present a diverse season of productions showcasing the incredible talents of its students and faculty.
"This year, the School of Theatre and Dance proudly brings you an exciting season of contemporary theatrical experiences that celebrate the voices of powerful women," said Mary Black, director of the School of Theatre and Dance at Millikin. "Much as Christine Daae's voice enthralls the Phantom in the beloved musical 'Phantom of the Opera,' we hope to enthrall you with our productions as we feature the voices of multiple female playwrights this season."

Three female coworkers (and unlikely friends) concoct a plan to get even with their sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot of a boss and learn that there is nothing they can't do, even in a man's world.

Kirkland Fine Arts Center
The longest running musical in Broadway history comes to life on the Kirkland Stage in this collaboration between the Millikin Schools of Theatre and Dance and Music. Set at the Paris Opera House in 1881, French novelist Gaston Leroux's classic tale chronicles the story of love and despair as the mysterious Phantom demonstrates the lengths to which he will go to obtain the object of his obsession, the beautiful young soprano, Christine Daae.

Dance takes center stage in this evening of student and faculty choreographed works exploring the depths of human emotion and the life experiences that inspire artistic expression.
New Faculty
New faculty coming to Millikin University will help the School of Theatre and Dance and College of Fine Arts grow in impact and number of students. The School of Theatre and Dance welcomes Elisa Gonzales who will be teaching in the acting curriculum, and Dr. Sarah Crockarell who will be teaching theatre history and dramatic literature.
Millikin Theatre and Dance produces numerous performances in venues on and off-campus, including musicals, plays, operas, children's theatre and dance concerts, as well as productions through its student-run theatre company, Pipe Dreams Studio Theatre.
