Millikin President weighs in on upcoming academic year
A new academic year is always a time for new beginnings and transitions for students, as well as institutions. It's a time where schools bring new curriculums to the table or even new buildings.
In a recent article from the Pantagraph, Millikin University President Dr. Patrick E. White was among several Presidents from area institutions who offered insight into expectations for the upcoming year.
"I was welcoming a group of students the other day. You see in their faces the hope and the possibilities and the excitement," said President White.
Millikin will be offering a new criminal justice major this fall where students will be taking over operation of a "teen court" that fits with the University's emphasis on Performance Learning.
"I'm pretty confident this will be the third year in a row with an increase in our freshman class," said White. "We want to help our students see it's not enough to 'know'— you have to 'do'— you have to demonstrate that competence in every major."
Among some of the new changes at Millikin include construction on the new Center for Theatre and Dance, which has been moving forward throughout the summer months; the project is set to complete in two years.
