Millikin graduates to be honored at 2018 Winter Commencement

Millikin University will recognize over 120 graduates for its 2018 Winter Commencement ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. at Kirkland Fine Arts Center on Millikin's campus.

Graduates from Millikin's traditional undergraduate, Master of Science in Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice and Master of Business Administration degree programs will be honored during the ceremony. Millikin will be streaming the December 2018 Commencement ceremony online at millikin.edu/commencement.

Millikin alumna Tanya R. Andricks '95, CEO of Crossing Healthcare, will deliver the commencement address titled "A Practical Talk on Taking Radical Risk." The ceremony will include remarks from student speakers Lauren K. Moses and Mallory N. Pierson.

Millikin Winter CommencementTanya R. Andricks received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Millikin in 1995 and her Master's Degree in Health Administration from Ohio University. Following graduation from Millikin, Andricks began her career as a registered nurse in the Emergency Care Center at Decatur Memorial Hospital (DMH), where she also served as a certified trauma nurse specialist and clinical coordinator.

In 1998, she moved from clinician to administrator as director of maternal child nursing service, overseeing DMH's labor and delivery area, prenatal clinic, and pediatric, pediatric intensive care, neonatal intensive care, and mother/baby postpartum units. She progressively held various other administrative positions at DMH, including director of the Integrative Health and Wellness Center (2003-12) and administrative director for home health nursing (2001-13), where she directed Medicare-certified home care, hospice and the Durable Medical Equipment Co. She also developed an inpatient hospice program and a heart failure telemonitoring program.

In 2013, Andricks left DMH and accepted the role of CEO of Crossing Healthcare, a federally grant funded community health center providing comprehensive health services to the medically underserved residents of Macon County. Andricks serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Illinois Primary Healthcare Association as well as a member of the Millikin Board of Trustees.

Andricks also enjoys volunteering as a member of the DMH foundation Board, the Board of Northeast Community Fund as well as the Macon County Continuum of Care Board for the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Andricks lives in Decatur, Ill., with her husband, Tim, and daughters Abby and Katie, and sons Ryan and Zachary.

Lauren K. Moses will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. Moses transferred to Millikin from Parkland College in 2016 and is from Newman, Ill.

Mallory N. Pierson will graduate with a Master of Science in Nursing Practice. Pierson is from Girard, Ill., and is currently employed as a registered nurse on the Acute Adult Psychiatric unit at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill.
